MSC Cruises Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its New PortMiami Terminal
On April 5, 2025, MSC Cruises celebrated the inauguration of its new cruise terminal at PortMiami, Florida. The terminal, designed by Arquitectonica and built by Fincantieri Infrastructure, spans an impressive 492,678 square feet and has the capacity to process up to 36,000 passengers daily, accommodating three ships at once.
This state-of-the-art facility features a fully biometric embarkation process, enhancing efficiency through digital identity verification for check-in, security, and boarding. Passengers can complete online check-in, book parking in a six-level garage with over 2,400 spaces, and benefit from biometric face pods and e-gates that facilitate quicker processing.
Art plays a significant role in the terminal’s design, with seven curated artworks commissioned via the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places program. A standout piece is a 10,816-square-foot digital projection on the exterior, showcasing real-time oceanic data sourced from NOAA.
The terminal will serve as a hub for MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys vessels, including the upcoming MSC World America, which will have its naming ceremony at the terminal on April 9 and will soon embark on its inaugural Caribbean season.
