Costa Smeralda Sets Sail on Western Mediterranean Deployments from Genoa

Costa Smeralda has commenced its Western Mediterranean deployment, starting from its homeport in Genoa. This flagship of Costa Cruises, also a sister ship to Costa Toscana, will offer roundtrip departures every Friday from April through November 2025.

This deployment follows a winter program in the Arabian Gulf, where the ship made regular stops at destinations like Dubai, Muscat, Doha, and Abu Dhabi. The vessel returned to Europe after a 37-day repositioning voyage that circumnavigated Africa, visiting ports such as Muscat, Port Louis, Cape Town, and Barcelona.

From April 11, 2025, Costa Smeralda will operate an 8-day itinerary that includes calls at popular locations such as Marseille, Barcelona, Cagliari, Naples, and Civitavecchia-Rome, before returning to Genoa. This itinerary provides access to cultural hotspots in Italy, France, and Spain.

Guests can look forward to a mix of onboard experiences, termed "Sea Destinations," and guided excursions at various ports, referred to as "Land Destinations." Onboard activities will include guided astronomical observations and regional culinary experiences, while shore excursions feature highlights like visits to Marseille’s Notre-Dame de la Garde, Barcelona’s Gaudí landmarks, and guided tours of Pompeii and the underwater ruins of Baiae in Naples.

This initiative underscores Costa Cruises’ commitment to enhancing Mediterranean offerings by blending enriching onboard programming with culturally immersive shore excursions.
