MSC World America: A New Era Unveiled at the World’s Largest Cruise Terminal in Miami

MSC Cruises recently celebrated the christening of its newest flagship, the MSC World America, at the impressive MSC Miami Cruise Terminal AA, celebrated as the world’s largest cruise terminal. The event featured actress Drew Barrymore as the godmother of the ship, who performed the traditional champagne bottle break against the ship’s bow, symbolizing good luck for its future missions. Accompanying her was actor Orlando Bloom, who had starred in MSC’s promotional campaign, Let’s Holiday.

During the ceremony, Barrymore expressed her pride in taking on the role of godmother, sharing her long-standing love for travel and the joy she anticipates for future guests onboard. As part of the festivities, attendees enjoyed a gala dinner, live performances, and a stunning aerial display featuring drones and fireworks that illuminated the Miami skyline.

The MSC World America marks the second vessel in MSC’s World Class series, designed to blend large-scale operations with sustainable innovations. Specifically developed for the U.S. market, it combines European aesthetics with amenities catered to North American preferences, including revamped entertainment spaces and an expanded culinary program.

The ship is set to commence service on April 12, 2025, operating from Miami with alternating 7-night itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Each voyage will feature a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC’s private Bahamian island, which is integral to the company’s Caribbean cruise offerings.
