NCL Transfers Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun to Cordelia Cruises India: A New Era for Indian Cruise Travel
NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) has officially announced the transfer of two of its SUN-class vessels, the Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun, to Cordelia Cruises (India). This significant agreement is expected to enhance Cordelia’s operational capacity in the region.
As per the agreement, Norwegian Sky is poised for transfer in 2026 and will be renamed Cordelia Sky, while Norwegian Sun will follow in 2027 as Cordelia Sun. Each ship can accommodate approximately 2,000 passengers along with 900 crew members.
Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO of Waterways Leisure Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Cordelia Cruises, stated that the addition of these ships is a continuation of the success of the Cordelia Empress, which has transformed cruise vacations for Indian travelers. He emphasized that this marks a new era for cruise holidays in India, with enhanced scale and immersive experiences for passengers.
Currently, Cordelia operates only the Cordelia Empress (previously known as Empress of the Seas), which was acquired from Royal Caribbean. The acquisition of Sky and Sun will double the capacity of Cordelia’s fleet, enabling longer itineraries and a wider range of destinations throughout Asia and the Middle East.
