Norwegian Aqua Makes Splash in NYC: A Sneak Peek Before Its 2025 Service Launch

On April 7, 2025, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) unveiled its latest ship, the Norwegian Aqua, during a two-day preview event in New York City. This vessel is set to officially launch its service in August 2025 with voyages to Bermuda.

Norwegian Aqua is the inaugural ship in NCL’s Prima Plus class, boasting several upgrades from its predecessors, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. It has increased in size by approximately 10% in volume and passenger capacity, with innovative features tailored to appeal to both leisure and active travelers.

One standout attraction aboard Norwegian Aqua is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a unique hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide spanning three decks. This first-of-its-kind at sea includes two slide experiences and showcases a high-speed propulsion system. Additionally, the ship introduces Glow Court, a versatile digital sports venue with an interactive LED floor that transforms into a nightlife location after sunset.

The ship’s public spaces have been expanded to include Vibe Beach Club, an adults-only outdoor lounge featuring private cabanas and ample oceanfront lounging. Family-friendly amenities include The Stadium, The Drop—a ten-deck dry slide—and a revamped Aqua Game Zone, mixing both virtual and classic arcade games. The Mandara Spa offers a dedicated area for relaxation and wellness, complete with thermal suites and comprehensive treatment options.

Dining and entertainment offerings have also been greatly enhanced. Norwegian Aqua features 17 dining venues and 18 bars and lounges, including a revamped Metropolitan Bar with live piano entertainment. Scheduled performances onboard include a stage production titled "Revolution: A Celebration of Prince" and "Elements: The World Expanded," a theatrical experience blending visual arts and acrobatics. Guests can also engage in game show-style activities like "The Price is Right LIVE."

Following its christening ceremony in Miami on April 13, 2025, where actor Eric Stonestreet will serve as the ship’s godfather, Norwegian Aqua will embark on week-long cruises in the Caribbean from Port Canaveral through July 2025. Later, it will relocate to New York City for voyages to Bermuda from August to October 2025, before transitioning to Eastern Caribbean routes from Miami beginning in October 2025 and lasting until April 2026. These itineraries will include stops at Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island, which is anticipated to feature a multi-ship pier by late 2025.

Passengers on Norwegian Aqua will benefit from the cruise line’s new More At Sea program, which includes bundled amenities such as premium beverage packages, specialty dining credits, high-speed internet, shore excursion credits, and family promotional offers on select trips.
