Oceania’s Insignia Hailed as the Latest Addition to Crescent Seas’ Residential Cruise Line

Crescent Seas, a luxury residential cruise line based in the USA, has announced its plans to introduce a refurbished version of Oceania Cruises’ ship, Insignia, as its second residential vessel. The deal includes a $50 million renovation that will convert Insignia into a unique floating community with 290 private residences, priced between $650,000 and $10 million. The ship is set to begin operations in late 2027, with its inaugural voyage scheduled for New Year’s Eve 2028.

Sales for these residences will kick off in late summer 2025 at a dedicated gallery in the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences, marking Crescent Seas’ expansion in the luxury cruise and real estate markets.

Originally launched in 1999 as R One, Insignia has seen significant renovations, including a major update in 2018. Under Crescent Seas, the ship will be entirely redesigned for luxury living, though it will maintain its operational capabilities through the original operators.

This transformation represents a significant shift in the luxury maritime market, allowing for a living experience that extends beyond traditional cruise itineraries. Crescent Seas will focus on longer stays, allowing the ship to dock in ports for up to five days to provide residents with deeper engagement with local cultures without the usual timeline constraints of cruises.

Onboard, residents can expect comprehensive services from a dedicated hospitality provider, including gourmet dining options, wellness programs, concierge services, and recreation facilities. Amenities like co-working lounges, wellness centers, and venues for entertainment and education will emphasize comfort, connectivity, and community living, catering to a diverse range of residents including digital nomads, families, and retirees.

Crescent Seas’ initiative follows the announcement of its first ship, Navigator, a redeveloped version of the Seven Seas Navigator, also positioned as a residential vessel. The Navigator will feature 210 residences, with prices starting from $750,000, and is expected to launch in 2026.

Over the next five years, Crescent Seas plans to unveil three more residential cruise ships, all designed for full-time living while traveling to various global destinations, representing an innovative alternative to conventional homeownership at sea.
