Adora Magic City Expands Coastal Operations Beyond Shanghai

The Adora Magic City, China’s first-built cruise ship, made its inaugural call at the Qingdao International Cruise Home Port on April 6, 2025. This event marked a significant expansion of its operations beyond its designated homeport in Shanghai, where it commenced commercial service on January 1, 2024.

Following its docking in Qingdao, the cruise ship set off on a 5-day international journey, hosting over 4,000 passengers. The trip includes scheduled stops at Jeju, South Korea, and Fukuoka, Japan, with a subsequent voyage on the same route set to depart on April 10, 2025.

The Adora Magic City is a notable vessel, measuring 323.6 meters in length and weighing 136,200 gross tons. It boasts 2,125 cabins and suites, adhering to international comfort standards. Its name draws inspiration from Shanghai’s colloquial nickname, “Magic City.”

Since it began operations, the Adora Magic City has completed over 100 voyages. It is managed by Adora Cruises, which currently oversees two significant cruise vessels, including the Magic City and Mediterranea. Together, they have welcomed more than 560,000 passengers from both domestic and international routes.

In parallel, Adora Cruises is progressing with the construction of another major cruise ship, Adora Flora City. Once its hull assembly is finished, this vessel is expected to be delivered by the end of 2026 and will be based in Guangzhou, also known as the “Flower City.” It will launch international cruise services from this southern port upon completion.
