Costa Diadema and MSC Seaview Set to Host COP30 UN Climate Change Conference
In preparation for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) to be held from November 10th to 21st in Belem, Brazil, two notable cruise ships have been designated to serve as floating accommodations for international delegates. The Costa Diadema and MSC Seaview, which together can host over 9,500 guests, will be docked at the Outeiro Port from November 5th to 22nd. This arrangement allows for additional accommodations even beyond the official end of the conference.
During a briefing that included representatives from 103 embassies, government officials emphasized Brazil’s dedication to effectively hosting this major UN event. To showcase their logistical readiness, they shared photos of the cruise ships with delegates. Moreover, enhancements to the Belem Waterway Terminal are planned, with plans to increase its size to facilitate the reception of guests arriving by ship.
Additional accommodations are being arranged for official delegations, including 400 rooms in the Vila de Lideres, along with expanded options in local hotels, private residences, and apartment rentals. The goal is to provide approximately 32,000 beds to support the anticipated influx of conference attendees.
