Silver Dawn Set to Kick Off the 2025 Cruise Season in Rouen

The Port of Rouen is set to kick off its 2025 cruise season with the Silver Dawn arriving on April 13. The ship will dock for two nights, allowing guests ample time to explore the city’s historical sites, including the Rouen Cathedral, and the picturesque Normandy landscape. Shore excursions to Paris, Versailles, and Giverny will also be available, all within convenient driving distance.

The port anticipates a record year in cruise tourism with 18 ocean cruise calls, featuring various cruise lines such as Silversea Cruises, Phoenix Reisen, and Azamara Cruises among others. In addition, the river cruise sector is thriving, with a staggering 954 calls expected throughout the year. Notably, Viking Cruises’ new Viking Nerthus will make its first appearance on April 21, offering guests local experiences and the region’s renowned cuisine, which includes several UNESCO-recognized traditions.

To accommodate this growing demand, significant infrastructure upgrades are underway at the Port of Rouen. Shore power facilities are being installed to serve vessels up to 250 meters in length, along with a major modernization project for the ocean cruise terminal.

In line with sustainable tourism efforts, Rouen is investing in green infrastructure and supporting eco-friendly ship operations. Looking to the future, Emerald Cruises plans to debut on the Seine River in 2027 with the Emerald Lumi, offering roundtrip itineraries from Paris with a stop in Rouen.
