Sky Princess Experiences Flooding Due to Burst Pipe Incident

On April 8, 2025, the cruise ship Sky Princess, operated by Princess Cruises, experienced a significant flooding incident due to a burst pipe on deck seven. The malfunction led to water from the Sky Pool pouring onto multiple decks, severely affecting the Piazza atrium located on decks five and six.

The flooding occurred around 10:45 p.m. local time during the ship’s 7-night round-trip from Southampton, England. At that moment, the Sky Princess had already visited La Coruna and Bilbao, Spain and was heading towards Le Verdon-sur-Mer, France.

In response to the emergency, the ship activated its emergency protocols. Passengers were instructed over the public address system to proceed to their designated muster stations. Confusion arose among guests due to simultaneous false fire alarms, which were caused by technical issues, amplifying the urgency of the situation.

Shipboard teams responded quickly, stopping the water flow and initiating cleanup efforts. According to Princess Cruises, the water only affected the Piazza on decks five and six, while other entertainment venues operated as usual. By the morning of April 9, guests were allowed to return to the affected areas.

No injuries were reported from the incident, and the vessel’s itinerary continued as planned, making subsequent port calls in Cherbourg, France before returning to Southampton on April 12.
