Kicking Off the 2025 Cruise Season at the Port of Cork: What to Expect

On April 13, 2025, the Port of Cork officially kicked off its 2025 cruise season with the arrival of the MS Ambition in Cobh. This vessel, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, measures 216 meters (709 feet) in length and accommodates up to 1,200 passengers in 680 staterooms.

Throughout the season, which runs from April to November, the Port of Cork expects to welcome 93 cruise ships. The economic impact of the cruise industry on the local area is anticipated to be around EUR 17 million, with passengers spending an average of EUR 81 and crew members spending about EUR 29 onshore.

Conor Mowlds, the Chief Commercial Officer at the Port of Cork Company and Chairperson of Cruise Ireland, noted the diversity of vessels expected this year, arriving from the USA, Canada, and various European countries. He emphasized the port’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to offer top-notch facilities and memorable experiences for passengers and crew alike.
