Major Infrastructure Overhaul Planned for Singapore Port’s Marina Bay Cruise Terminal

The Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS) is set to undergo a significant infrastructure upgrade estimated at S$40 million (around US$759,500). This extensive redevelopment, expected to last for nine months, marks the most substantial improvement since the terminal’s opening in 2012.

Once the renovations are complete, MBCCS will be capable of accommodating two large cruise ships at once, increasing its capacity to handle up to 11,700 passengers, a boost from the current 6,800. The renovations will enhance embarkation and disembarkation seating areas, upgrade lounge facilities, and introduce additional check-in counters. These enhancements will facilitate the simultaneous and organized processing of passengers from two ships.

In addition to the terminal upgrades, a nearby undeveloped land parcel will be transformed into a larger ground transport hub, featuring increased coach bay capacity and more space for ride-hailing vehicles. Furthermore, Marina Coastal Drive will be widened to improve access to the terminal.

The upgrade project will proceed in phases to maintain the terminal’s operations during the renovation process. SATS-Creuers Cruise Services, which has managed MBCCS since May 21, 2012, is overseeing the project. The Singapore Tourism Board has also extended their operating agreement with SATS-Creuers for an additional eight years, with an option for a further two-year extension.
