AmaWaterways Enhances Douro River Cruises with the Launch of AmaSintra
AmaWaterways has enhanced its presence on Portugal’s Douro River by launching the new vessel, AmaSintra, which began operations recently. This 102-guest ship adds capacity to the popular Iberian waterway alongside existing vessels, AmaDouro and AmaVida.
AmaSintra boasts 51 staterooms, a sun deck pool, a fitness room, and a main dining venue that focuses on regional cuisine. It will operate on the "Enticing Douro" itinerary, a seven-night cruise with stops at Porto, Regua, and Salamanca. Additionally, guests have the option of a three-night pre-cruise land program in Lisbon.
Kristin Karst, co-founder and chief brand ambassador of AmaWaterways, highlighted the increasing interest in Portugal as a river cruise destination. She expects AmaSintra to provide exceptional service throughout the season, which runs into late December.
The official naming ceremony for AmaSintra took place in Porto on April 17, with Jenn Lee, President of Vacation Planners, honored as the vessel’s godmother due to her exemplary leadership in the travel industry and shared values with AmaWaterways.
The introduction of AmaSintra follows the company’s recent milestone—the launch of its first vessel on Colombia’s Magdalena River—marking a significant phase of fleet expansion and regional diversification for AmaWaterways.
