P&O Cruise Cancellations: Refit Delays Impact Sailings

P&O Cruises has canceled a planned cruise aboard the Aurora, citing delays in its refit. The decision was communicated to passengers via email about 24 hours before the scheduled departure on Monday, April 21, 2025. The cruise, which was to set sail from Southampton for three nights, included a stop at the Belgian port of Zeebrugge and a day cruising the North Sea.

A spokesperson from P&O expressed regret over the cancellation, recognizing the disappointment it would cause to guests. Those affected will receive a full refund along with a future cruise credit worth 20% of their original payment.

Originally announced in March 2023, the Aurora’s refurbishment was designed to enhance several guest areas and cabins. Similar to recent upgrades made to the Arcadia, this project aimed to foster a more intimate and stylish environment for guests. Updates included new furniture and enhanced deck spaces.

Following the cancellation, the Aurora is now scheduled to resume operations on April 24, 2025. It will embark on a 12-night cruise to the Norwegian Fjords, visiting locations such as Gravdal, Trondheim, and Alesund among others. The ship will operate year-round from Southampton, offering a variety of cruises ranging from three to 30 nights to destinations across Northern Europe, Iceland, the Mediterranean, and beyond throughout 2025.
