Astro Ocean’s Piano Land Launches Exciting New Program in Hong Kong
Astro Ocean Cruises has officially launched its operations in Hong Kong with its flagship vessel, the Piano Land. The ship’s inauguration at its new homeport was celebrated with a special ceremony on April 15, 2025. Astro Ocean highlighted that this launch signifies not only a new chapter for the Piano Land but also demonstrates Hong Kong as a desirable hub for international cruise ships.
The new cruise itineraries will provide guests with opportunities for cultural exploration, incorporating family-friendly activities and nature-focused shore excursions. Over the upcoming year, the Piano Land is anticipated to host around 60 cruises from Hong Kong, reaching various destinations including Japan’s Okinawa region and Vietnam. Ports of call will feature locations such as Naha, Ishigaki, and Miyakojima, along with Ha Long Bay and Da Nang.
Originally named Oriana and constructed for P&O Cruises in 1995, the Piano Land underwent a significant transformation before its arrival to Asia. After spending 25 years with the P&O brand and a subsequent sale in late 2018 to Astro Ocean Cruises, the ship was refurbished and made its debut in Asia in September 2019, launching a series of cruises from mainland China. Most recently, after undergoing additional refurbishment during the pandemic, the Piano Land resumed operations in July 2024, starting from Shanghai.
