Ege Port Kusadası Achieves Milestone with Completion of First Phase in Solar Energy Investment Project

Ege Port Kuşadası, located in Turkey and operated by Global Ports Holding (GPH), has made significant strides in sustainability by completing the first phase of its solar energy investment project. This initiative is part of the port’s broader commitment to transitioning to renewable energy sources.

The newly installed rooftop solar power plant has the capacity to generate approximately 312,552 kWh of electricity annually. The project, which cost around $300,000, involves 426 solar panels and five inverters. It is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 223 tons each year. A second phase is planned to include a ground-mounted solar power plant, which is expected to be completed by late 2025. Once fully operational, the project aims to make Ege Port Kuşadası 100% reliant on renewable energy, achieving carbon neutrality.

Aziz Gungor, the East Med Regional Director of GPH and General Manager of Ege Port Kuşadası, highlighted the project as a vital step in aligning the cruise industry with environmental goals. This move underscores Global Ports Holding’s dedication to sustainable practices across its global port operations.
