Port of Montreal Kicks Off 2025 Cruise Season with Arrival of Victory I

The Port of Montreal officially kicked off its 2025 cruise season with the arrival of Victory I, a ship operated by Victory Cruise Lines, now part of AQV-American Queen Voyages. This inaugural entry signals the beginning of a busy year, which will feature 42 cruise berthings involving 21 vessels from 13 different cruise lines. The port expects to welcome nearly 60,000 passengers and crew throughout the season.

Among the ships making their first call to Montreal this year are Seven Seas Splendor from Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Silver Shadow from Silversea Cruises, and Allura from Oceania Cruises. These new additions emphasize Montreal’s rising reputation as a key turnaround and transit destination within the North American cruise market.

In 2024, the cruise sector contributed approximately CA$25 million to the local economy and nearly 120,000 additional passengers visited due to river-based excursions. The increasing number of cruise arrivals has a direct positive impact on the local economy, particularly benefiting the city’s commercial and tourism sectors and providing essential job support.

Victory I, previously known as Saint-Laurent, has a long-standing relationship with Montreal, having first visited the port in 2016. To mark this significant event, a presentation was made to Victory Cruise Lines’ owner, John Waggoner, in recognition of their ongoing investment in Montreal.

The start of the cruise season also aligns with the commencement of summer activities at the Grand Quai, with public events such as C2 Montréal, the Climate Summit, Startupfest, and Martinique Gourmande on the schedule.
