Port Roenne on Bornholm Island Expands Infrastructure with New Cruise Pier

Port Roenne on Bornholm Island, Denmark, is set to enhance its cruise infrastructure with a new pier measuring 374 meters in length and 11 meters in depth, anticipated to be completed by fall 2025. This new facility will accommodate larger vessels and improve operational effectiveness within the harbor.

The new pier will replace the berths currently being used, which will be redirected to support various commercial activities. Additionally, renovations to the existing cruise pier are in progress, including the removal of inner breakwaters and an extension of the southern outer breakwater. These changes are intended to improve navigational conditions and create a calmer harbor basin.

Strategically located approximately a 15-minute walk from Destination Bornholm’s visitor center and about 20 minutes from the city center’s main square, the new pier aims to facilitate passenger access to local attractions. With expectations of hosting 70 cruise calls this year, the port is seeing a significant increase, boasting a 150% rise compared to figures from 2015.

In response to environmental concerns, a working group is investigating the potential implementation of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) at the new pier. Although a definitive timeline for this initiative has yet to be established, port authorities are optimistic about its eventual execution.
