HRH The Princess Royal to Attend Cunard’s Anniversary Celebrations

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is set to lead the celebrations for Cunard’s 185th anniversary in Liverpool on May 27, marking a significant milestone in maritime history. The festivities will kick off on May 26 with the arrival of the Queen Anne, closely timed with her naming ceremony held in the city nearly a year ago.

Katie McAlister, the president of Cunard, expressed pride in welcoming The Princess Royal to Liverpool for these celebrations. This event represents a pivotal moment for the cruise line, honoring its rich heritage and the profound connection it shares with Liverpool.

Upon her arrival, The Princess Royal will be greeted by the British Army Band Catterick. Her participation emphasizes the legacy of Cunard and its leadership, notably the captains of the Queen Anne, Dave Hudson and Inger Thorhauge. As part of the celebration, Cunard will unveil its ‘Sea of Glamour’ exhibition at The Royal Liver Building. This exhibit features five iconic women from Liverpool, each chosen to symbolize the city’s significance after it was designated as Queen Anne’s godparent.

Curated by renowned photographer Mary McCartney, the exhibition aims to highlight the journey of Cunard over its 185 years, showcasing the elegance and memories associated with life at sea.
