G Adventures Expands Antarctic Offerings with Charter of Expedition Ship Ocean Adventurer

G Adventures has announced the chartering of the 1985-built expedition vessel, the Ocean Adventurer, to enhance its Antarctic cruise offerings for the upcoming season. This addition, arranged through the Danish company SunStone Ships, represents a significant upgrade from the company’s current vessel, the Expedition, with operations set to begin in October 2025.

The Ocean Adventurer can accommodate up to 128 guests in its 70 staterooms and provides various amenities, including a restaurant, a bar, a presentation lounge, a library, and an observation deck complete with outdoor jacuzzis. It is designed for adventure, featuring 11 Zodiacs for daily excursions.

G Adventures is committed to environmental sustainability, and the Ocean Adventurer reflects this dedication with significant renovations, including new engines that enhance fuel efficiency, reducing its carbon footprint by an estimated 30% per person per day. Built to Ice Class 1A standards, the ship ensures safety and agility in polar waters and includes updated stabilizers for a smoother sailing experience.

The vessel will operate five Antarctic itineraries, with options such as the 11-day Antarctica Classic and the more extensive 21-day Spirit of Shackleton, alongside a 22-day journey that explores the Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica.
