Carnival Legend Makes a Splash in San Francisco for Seasonal Homeporting

On May 8, 2025, the Carnival Legend made its inaugural arrival at the Port of San Francisco, kicking off its seasonal homeport operations. This marked a significant addition to the cruise offerings in San Francisco, making it the second vessel from Carnival Cruise Line to call the port home on a seasonal basis, and reinforcing Carnival’s status as the leading cruise line by embarkation volume in California.

To celebrate this launch, senior officers from the ship, including Captain Mark Harlow, participated in a traditional plaque exchange with local port officials. This ceremony symbolized the ship’s first visit and highlighted the port’s expanding role in Carnival’s West Coast itineraries. This arrival also coincided with the completion of Carnival’s Alaska deployment for the season, with other Carnival ships already stationed in Seattle.

Carnival Legend is set to offer 10-day roundtrips from San Francisco to Alaska, allowing guests to visit key destinations. Shorter cruises to the Mexican Riviera are also included in the schedule. Captain Harlow expressed excitement about the operations starting from San Francisco, anticipating unique sailings that connect the city to Alaska’s stunning natural landscapes. The ship’s crew, comprised of 965 members, is ready to deliver memorable experiences to all guests.

On its arrival day, passengers began a four-day cruise itinerary headed to Baja Mexico, which includes a stop in Ensenada. Following this, on May 12, Carnival Legend will set sail on its first Alaska-bound journey of the season, featuring scenic cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord and port calls in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Later in the year, the ship is scheduled for a 15-day Carnival Journeys sailing to Hawaii, departing on September 21. This journey includes stops at notable Hawaiian ports like Kahului (Maui), Honolulu (Oahu), Nawiliwili (Kauai), and Hilo. Carnival Legend boasts several dining and entertainment options, including popular venues like Guy’s Burger Joint and the RedFrog Pub, following recent upgrades that introduced new facilities such as the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge.

With a guest capacity of 2,124 and a selection of over 630 balcony staterooms and 50 suites, Carnival Legend is positioned to provide an elevated cruising experience to all passengers departing from San Francisco.
