Greenock Cruise Port Launches Operations in Partnership with GPH-Global Ports Holding

On May 5, 2025, Greenock Cruise Port began its operations under the management of Global Ports Holding (GPH) with the inaugural arrival of MSC Preziosa. This milestone event followed a 50-year agreement established in March 2025 between GPH and Clydeport Operations Limited, a subsidiary of Peel Ports Group.

Captain Lorenzo Sapeti, along with Ian Kay and Gary Lyons, welcomed MSC Preziosa and its passengers, who were greeted by local bagpiper John MacInnes in a traditional Scottish fashion. John Mawer, General Manager at Greenock and Liverpool Cruise Ports, highlighted the significance of this event for the local economy and tourism sector, expressing optimism for future developments at the port.

Strategically positioned on the Firth of Clyde, about 25 miles west of Glasgow, Greenock Cruise Port provides access to major Scottish attractions, such as Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, and the Scottish Highlands. The port boasts a dedicated cruise terminal capable of accommodating vessels up to 340 meters in length, with a quay depth of 10 meters. Its location near Glasgow International Airport, just 26 kilometers away, offers convenient access for cruise travelers.

The inclusion of Greenock Cruise Port in GPH’s network emphasizes the company’s dedication to improving cruise operations and fostering sustainable growth in Scotland’s cruise tourism sector.
