On May 12, 2025, Victory Cruise Lines celebrated the christening of its new vessel, Victory II, at Chicago’s Navy Pier, marking a historic moment as it was the first overnight cruise ship to be dedicated at this iconic location. The ceremony was led by John Waggoner, founder and CEO of the cruise line, who honored his granddaughter, Molly Applegate, by naming her the ship’s godmother—a nod to a longstanding family tradition in maritime christenings.
The Victory II is a luxurious 300-foot-long vessel accommodating 190 passengers along with a crew of 92, specifically tailored for upscale cruising experiences throughout the Great Lakes. Its planned itineraries feature renowned destinations such as Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Detroit, Cleveland, Niagara Falls, and Toronto, ensuring a comprehensive experience of the Great Lakes’ beauty.
Currently, Victory Cruise Lines holds exclusive docking rights at Navy Pier, thereby enhancing Chicago’s profile as a premier cruise destination. The line is set to operate 33 sailings in 2025, with trips lasting from 10 to 15 nights and departing from various cities, including Chicago, Toronto, Milwaukee, and Montreal.
