Margaritaville at Sea Expands Fleet: Welcoming Costa Fortuna to the Family
Margaritaville at Sea has officially announced the purchase of the cruise ship Costa Fortuna from Costa Cruises, with plans to integrate the ship into its fleet by late 2026 or early 2027. This acquisition comes as part of Margaritaville’s strategy to expand its offerings and serve a growing customer base.
The Costa Fortuna, which was built in 2003, boasts a gross tonnage of 102,669 and has the capacity to accommodate 3,470 passengers. This represents a substantial increase over Margaritaville at Sea’s current ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, which can host around 1,308 guests.
Following its acquisition, the Costa Fortuna will undergo significant renovations to align with Margaritaville at Sea’s brand standards and enhance the guest experience. Renovations are expected to include updates to staterooms, dining areas, and entertainment venues, drawing from the recent overhaul of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, which was formerly known as Costa Atlantica.
While the new name and homeport for the ship have not yet been revealed, the company has hinted at plans to introduce new concepts and venues that will elevate the onboard experience, further reflecting its commitment to a unique cruising atmosphere.
Until the transition is finalized, Costa Cruises will continue to operate the Costa Fortuna, and more information regarding the ship’s deployment and itineraries is anticipated to be released as the integration progresses.
