Royal Caribbean Modifies Itineraries Following Suspension of Labadee Port Calls

As of May 2025, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has extended its suspension of port calls to Labadee, Haiti, through the summer. This decision is in response to ongoing security issues due to rising violence and political instability in the area. Even though Labadee is over 100 miles from Port-au-Prince, RCI is prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.

This suspension impacts several of RCI’s ships and their itineraries. For example, the July 20, 2025 voyage of the Oasis of the Seas, which is a 6-night Western Caribbean cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale, has replaced its Labadee stop with a visit to Nassau, Bahamas. Likewise, Adventure of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas will also exclude Labadee from their routes during this period. Even the flagship Icon of the Seas has dropped Labadee from its itinerary.

In light of these changes, RCI is suggesting alternative ports, such as CocoCay, Grand Cayman, and Nassau, where possible. Some itineraries have been revised to allow longer stays in other ports; for instance, Oasis of the Seas is planning an extended visit to Falmouth, Jamaica.

RCI has informed affected guests directly about these itinerary modifications, underscoring that the decision was made for safety reasons. Guests who had prepaid shore excursions for Labadee will receive refunds in the form of onboard credits.

Currently, the U.S. Department of State maintains a Level 4 travel advisory for Haiti, which strongly advises against all travel due to various risks, including kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited healthcare resources.

Royal Caribbean has yet to announce a timeline for resuming visits to Labadee, indicating that the suspension will remain until the situation improves.
