Viking Thoth Ship Set to Make Waves: Upcoming 2025 Nile River Deployment

Viking has celebrated a major milestone with the float-out of its latest vessel for the Nile River, the Viking Thoth. This event took place at the Massara Shipyard in Cairo, Egypt, marking the first time the 82-guest ship has entered the water as it moves into the final stages of construction.

The Viking Thoth is scheduled for delivery in October 2025 and will operate on Viking’s popular 12-day "Pharaohs & Pyramids" itinerary. This ship will contribute to Viking’s growing fleet on the Nile, which plans to expand to 12 vessels by 2027. Accommodating 82 guests in 41 staterooms, Viking Thoth maintains the design aesthetic of its sister ships, including features like a square bow and the signature Aquavit Terrace.

Viking’s Chairman and CEO, Torstein Hagen, underscored the importance of Egypt’s cultural appeal and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the region. The introduction of the Viking Thoth, along with the upcoming Viking Amun, is part of a broader strategy to improve capacity and services on the Nile.

Travelers on the "Pharaohs & Pyramids" itinerary will begin with a three-night hotel stay in Cairo, exploring iconic sites such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the necropolis of Saqqara, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. After a flight to Luxor, they will board the ship for an eight-day roundtrip cruise, visiting landmarks like the Temples of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, and Abu Simbel. The journey will also include cultural excursions, such as a tour of a Nubian village and a visit to the High Dam at Aswan, culminating in another overnight stay in Cairo.
