Emergency Medevac Successfully Conducted Off Aceh Coast for Two Mein Schiff 6 Passengers
An emergency medical evacuation was carried out by Indonesian maritime authorities over the weekend for two passengers aboard the Mein Schiff 6, which was sailing off the coast of Aceh Province, Indonesia.
The cruise ship, en route from Port Klang, Malaysia, called for urgent help after two passengers fell gravely ill. The evacuees included 86-year-old German national Hebert Ronald and Yulia, a 43-year-old Russian citizen who was 15 weeks pregnant. Medical evaluations onboard suggested that Ronald was suffering from complications linked to hypertension and diabetes, while Yulia was experiencing a nosebleed, which raised concerns due to her pregnancy.
Following the distress signal, the National Search and Rescue Agency of Indonesia (Basarnas) dispatched a vessel to rendezvous with the Mein Schiff 6, which was located about seven nautical miles off the coast of Aceh. Both patients were successfully moved from the ship to shore and taken to local medical facilities for further treatment. While there have been no updates on their conditions, authorities praised the effective coordination between ship and shore emergency services that facilitated the safe evacuation.
