Royal Caribbean’s Star OTS: Newest Ship Begins Sea Trials Ahead of Its 2025 Debut

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Star of the Seas, has officially begun its sea trials in the Baltic Sea, a crucial step ahead of its anticipated launch in August 2025. Constructed at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, Star of the Seas is set to be the second ICON-Class vessel in the fleet.

The trials will run for 11 days and will involve over 2,000 experts in various fields such as naval architecture, engineering, and design. They will test the ship’s performance under diverse conditions, which includes assessments of propulsion, maneuverability, and engine stress. This is vital to ensure the vessel’s effectiveness in its future operations.

During the sea trials, Star of the Seas will traverse several hundred nautical miles and, upon completion, will return to the shipyard for final adjustments before its service launch.

The ship will primarily offer seven-night cruises throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean, stopping at sought-after destinations such as Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, which remains one of Royal Caribbean’s most praised private islands.
