Stornoway Port Celebrates Historic Arrival of Queen Anne, Its Largest Vessel Ever

On May 23, 2025, Stornoway Port made history by welcoming the Queen Anne, the largest vessel to ever dock at the harbor. This Cunard ship measures 323 meters in length and weighs 113,000 tons. Its visit is scheduled to last until 6:00 p.m. on the same day.

Kirsty Hutchison, the cruise manager at Stornoway Port, described the arrival of the Queen Anne as a significant milestone for both the port and the surrounding island community. She emphasized that this visit showcases the vast opportunities presented by the recently completed Deep Water Terminal, which has been designed not only for cruise ships but also for a wide range of marine industries.

Hutchison noted the importance of the cruise industry during challenging economic times, stating that it aims to drive local economic growth. The Deep Water Terminal, part of a £59 million investment in marine infrastructure, is a crucial development intended to accommodate the world’s largest cruise liners and support long-term diversification of port operations.

With projections indicating that over 60,000 passengers will pass through Stornoway Port this season, the island is poised to receive around £7.5 million through cruise tourism, demonstrating its rising popularity as a cruise destination.
