Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas Sets Sail for Inaugural Homeporting in Los Angeles

On May 31, RCI-Royal Caribbean International’s ship Ovation of the Seas will make its inaugural arrival at the Port of Los Angeles’s World Cruise Center, marking the first deployment of a Quantum Class vessel from this Californian port. This strategic move enhances the cruise line’s presence on the West Coast of the U.S. and introduces fresh options for cruising to the Mexican Riviera.

Starting June 5, the Ovation OTS will commence a series of Baja California itineraries, including 3-night cruises to Ensenada, 5-night voyages with overnight stays in Cabo San Lucas, and 6-night journeys that combine visits to both destinations. These itineraries are designed to offer travelers a variety of experiences along Mexico’s Pacific coastline.

Ovation of the Seas features advanced amenities, including the North Star observation capsule, which provides sweeping ocean views, and the Bionic Bar, where robotic bartenders serve drinks. To celebrate this new deployment, Royal Caribbean has partnered with Shondaland to honor the media company’s 20th anniversary. Sweepstakes winners will enjoy an inaugural "Shondaland at Sea" experience that includes a private screening and a Q&A session with Shonda Rhimes and producer Betsy Beers, along with trivia related to "Grey’s Anatomy."

Alongside the Ovation, the Navigator of the Seas will continue to operate and offer 3-, 4-, and 7-night Baja California itineraries from Los Angeles through October 2026. The introduction of the Ovation increases Royal Caribbean’s capacity on the West Coast, providing travel advisors with more options for clients looking to explore the Pacific coast of Mexico.

After completing its summer season in California, Ovation of the Seas is set to reposition to Asia for winter cruises, with short itineraries to Malaysia and Thailand departing from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
