Vigor Marine Group Unveils New Identity as a Unified Leader in the Maritime Industry

Vigor Marine Group has announced its launch as a consolidated maritime leader, combining the expertise of several companies, including Continental Maritime of San Diego, MHI Ship Repair & Services, Seaward Marine Services, and Accurate Marine Environmental. The unification marks the establishment of Vigor Marine Group and integrates their drydock facility in Oregon, which serves multiple cruise companies.

Francesco Valente, CEO of Vigor Marine Group, emphasized that this new entity represents a combined identity showcasing a highly skilled team with coast-to-coast capabilities. Each member of this group has built a reputation for innovative and reliable services. By coming together, they aim to leverage a national platform while offering the agile responsiveness typical of local shipyards. This collaboration is poised to enhance their legacy of performance and timely delivery.

The Vigor Marine Group is organized into three main divisions:

  1. Maintenance & Modernization: This division operates Vigor’s shipyards located in Portland, Seattle, and Ketchikan. It also encompasses Vigor Marine CM San Diego, recognized as a certified master ship repair contractor for the U.S. Navy, along with Vigor Marine MHI located in Norfolk, otherwise known for its premier repair services on the East Coast.

  2. Marine Services: This division includes Vigor Services Accurate, which focuses on tank cleaning and wastewater treatment, and Vigor Services Seaward, which specializes in underwater hull cleaning and coating.

  3. Marine Fabrication: Continuing Vigor’s legacy, this division caters to small-crafts production for defense, fisheries, and commercial sectors.

Valente highlighted their position as the largest maintenance and modernization group on the West Coast and as a significant builder of aluminum-hull combat crafts in the U.S. They also provide crucial MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) services for both cruise ships and the Navy, positioning them well for future growth and innovation.

Vigor Marine Group oversees five shipyards and eight drydocks, which includes the largest floating drydock in North America, offering more than 17,000 feet of pier space situated on pivotal maritime sites, including historically significant shipyards and U.S. naval installations.

Supporting this extensive operational scope is a dedicated workforce of 2,600 employees spread across five states. The group is recognized for its award-winning safety culture, technical expertise, and its commitment to workforce development.

The path leading to the formation of Vigor Marine Group began with Titan Acquisition Holdings, founded in 2019 following the acquisition of Vigor Industrial and its affiliates by The Carlyle Group and Stellex Capital Management. The portfolio expanded with Continental Maritime of San Diego in 2020, and in 2023, controlling ownership transitioned to Lone Star Funds. Valente, who previously served as the CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group, stepped into his role at Vigor in September 2024.
