CCL-Carnival Cruise Line has revealed plans to launch a restructured loyalty program named Carnival Rewards™ in June 2026. This new program marks a departure from the traditional method of rewarding guests based solely on the number of nights spent at sea, introducing instead a points-based system that recognizes spending on cruise fares and onboard activities.

Under the Carnival Rewards framework, guests will earn two key metrics: redeemable points for various purchases and status-qualifying “stars” that determine their membership tier—either Red, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond. This shift aims to enhance guest experience by allowing more flexibility in how loyalty is recognized.

A significant aspect of the new program is its integration with the upcoming Carnival Rewards Barclaycard Mastercard, which will let cardholders earn points and stars through typical daily expenditures, expediting their journey towards better rewards. Christine Duffy, President of CCL, stated that the transition from the existing “Very Important Fun Person™ (VIFP)” program to this new model was necessary to offer meaningful recognition and enhanced experiences for loyal customers.

Membership levels will remain valid for two years post-launch, except Diamond members, who will retain benefits for up to six years. Any existing "FunPoints" from the current loyalty card will convert to Carnival Rewards points at the time of the launch.
