CCL-Carnival Unveils Exciting Carnival Rewards Program Set to Launch in June 2026 with Dual-Earning Structure

CCL-Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled plans to launch a redesigned loyalty program called Carnival Rewards™ in June 2026. This new initiative represents a significant shift in the cruise industry by introducing a points-based system that rewards guests not just based on the number of nights spent at sea, but also on their spending on cruise fares and onboard activities.

Under the Carnival Rewards program, members will earn two types of benefits: redeemable points for CCL purchases and status-qualifying "stars" that determine their membership tier—ranging from Red to Diamond. This replaces the existing "Very Important Fun Person™ (VIFP)" program, which primarily tracks status based on nights sailed.

A key feature of the new rewards structure will involve integration with the upcoming Carnival Rewards Barclaycard Mastercard, allowing cardholders to earn both points and stars through regular spending. Christine Duffy, President of CCL, emphasized that the revitalized loyalty program is designed to offer more meaningful recognition to guests, particularly benefitting higher-tier members with enhanced experiences that reflect their engagement with the brand.

The transition to Carnival Rewards will see existing member statuses carry over, with guests continuing to earn under the VIFP program until the new system is activated. Membership levels will be maintained for two years after June 1, 2026, with Diamond members enjoying an extended six-year benefit. At the launch, existing "FunPoints" from the co-branded credit card will also be converted into the new Carnival Rewards points.
