Crown Iris: Mano Maritime’s Cruise Ship Successfully Evacuates 2,000 Israelis from Cyprus to Ashdod
The cruise ship Crown Iris, operated by Mano Maritime, successfully carried approximately 2,000 Israeli nationals from Limassol, Cyprus, to Ashdod Port in Israel. This voyage marks the first phase of "Operation Safe Return," a collaborative initiative between Mano Maritime and Israel’s Ministry of Transportation aimed at repatriating citizens stranded abroad during recent disruptions.
Upon arrival in Ashdod, the passengers were welcomed by a delegation including Transportation Minister Miri Regev and Ashdod Port Chairman Shaul Schneider. The Ministry stated that the ongoing repatriation effort utilizes all available resources to ensure the safety and efficiency of the process.
To assist returnees, approximately 50 buses and minibuses were on standby at the port, providing complimentary transportation to major locations such as the Ashdod train station, Beersheba, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.
The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that maritime operations will continue as security assessments dictate. This initial cruise is part of a larger series of repatriation voyages expected to occur in the upcoming days. Ashdod Port officials noted that their operational staff are maintaining critical functions while working under heightened alert conditions, demonstrating a commitment to national resilience.
