Passenger from NCL Norwegian Bliss Reported Missing After Juneau Hiking Excursion

A 62-year-old passenger of the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Bliss has gone missing during a hiking excursion in Juneau, Alaska. The individual, Marties Buenafe, was last heard from on July 1, when she informed family members about her plans to hike to Gastineau Peak via the Gold Ridge trail, accessible via the Mount Roberts Tramway. Surveillance cameras confirmed that she successfully arrived at the tram’s summit around 7:30 a.m.

Despite remaining in port until approximately 1:35 p.m. to search for her, the ship departed without finding Buenafe. On July 2, the Alaska State Troopers, along with local agencies, launched an extensive search operation which continued by both air and ground on July 3. The authorities have noted that the search area consists of challenging terrain. Norwegian Cruise Line is collaborating with law enforcement and providing support to the family during this distressing time.

Anyone with information regarding the missing passenger is requested to contact the Alaska State Troopers, referencing case number AK25063914.
