Stena Line Announces Discontinuation of Cherbourg–Rosslare Ferry Route by September 2025

Stena Line has announced the discontinuation of its Cherbourg–Rosslare ferry service in September 2025, with the last crossing set for the end of that month. The company assured passengers that all bookings made before that date will be honored and that alternative arrangements will be provided for those with bookings beyond September.

This decision follows earlier changes, such as the cancellation of its dedicated passenger service in 2024. It is part of a strategic shift aimed at bolstering operations across the Irish Sea, particularly on the Liverpool-Belfast route.

Despite Stena Line’s exit from this route, Brittany Ferries will continue to operate the Cherbourg–Rosslare service with five sailings per week, while Irish Ferries will maintain its service between Cherbourg and Dublin. There remains a strong demand for direct ferry links between France and Ireland, driven by an increase in both passenger and freight traffic, particularly in light of changes in transport patterns post-Brexit.
