Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Prima Set to Exchange Homeports: What You Need to Know
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced a change in homeports for two of its ships, the Norwegian Breakaway and the Norwegian Prima, for the winter season of 2026-27. This decision comes after the cancellation of over 40 sailings for both vessels due to a fleet redeployment.
The Norwegian Breakaway, which was initially scheduled to operate from Puerto Rico, will now be positioned in New Orleans, while the Norwegian Prima will take over the Southern Caribbean itineraries originally planned for the Breakaway, sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
As a result of these changes, all sailings for the Breakaway from November 8, 2026, through March 29, 2027, have been cancelled. Norwegian Cruise Line has communicated to passengers that full refunds will be processed automatically to the original form of payment utilized for the bookings.
To address the inconvenience caused, the company is offering affected guests a ten percent discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit (FCC), which can be redeemed for any published sailings through December 31, 2027. New bookings for the adjusted itineraries on both ships will open on August 8, 2025.
This shift marks a significant change and reflects Norwegian Cruise Line’s ongoing adjustments to its service offerings in response to changing market dynamics and operational considerations.
