Lindblad Expeditions Celebrates Naming Ceremony for New Ships in the Galapagos

Four vessels from National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions gathered in Academy Bay, Galápagos, to celebrate the official naming ceremony of the newest additions to their fleet: the National Geographic Delfina and the National Geographic Gemini. This momentous occasion marked a historic first for the brand, which is the longest-standing international operator in the Galápagos.

The ceremony underlined Lindblad Expeditions’ commitment to education, community, and conservation within the region. Among those present were members of the local community, Lindblad leadership, invited guests, and families of the crew, along with local dignitaries and partners.

The National Geographic Delfina and National Geographic Gemini, recently acquired from Celebrity Cruises, began operations for Lindblad earlier this year following refurbishments in South America. They joined the existing vessels in the Galápagos, the National Geographic Islander II and the National Geographic Endeavour II.

The Delfina commenced its maiden voyage in February, with the Gemini following in March. Together, these four ships now offer diverse expedition itineraries throughout the Galápagos National Park, visiting islands such as Española, Floreana, Santa Cruz, and Bartolomé.
