Bill Burke’s Retirement Marks the End of an Era at Carnival Corporation

Vice Admiral (Ret.) William (Bill) Burke has officially retired from his role at Carnival Corporation as of July 10, 2025. After joining the company in 2013 as Chief Maritime Officer, Burke established himself as a key figure in promoting safety protocols, training initiatives, and environmental innovations.

Burke’s career in the Navy saw him command submarines and lead various naval operations, which equipped him with a wealth of experience that he brought to Carnival. His tenure saw significant advancements, including the introduction of LNG-powered ships and collaborative efforts with global health authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his words, transitioning to a role as External Affairs Adviser allowed him to blend his naval experience with the maritime industry. After more than a decade of notable service, he felt it was the right time to retire fully to spend more time with his family, particularly his seven grandsons, who he cherishes spending time with.

Burke expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had during his time with Carnival Corporation and thanked his colleagues in the fleet.
