Celebrity Infinity Power Failure Leads to Itinerary Changes: Mykonos, Kavala, and Thessaloniki Removed from Schedule

Celebrity Infinity is currently docked in Kusadasi, Turkey, following a small electrical fire on July 7, 2025, which led to a temporary loss of power on the vessel. Although the fire was minor, it resulted in an hours-long blackout that disrupted lighting, air conditioning, and dining services, leaving guests uncomfortable in the sweltering summer heat.

On July 9, a notice was sent to passengers explaining that repairs were still in progress and that the remaining Greek ports on the itinerary, specifically Mykonos, Kavala, and Thessaloniki, were canceled. As a result, the ship’s departure was rescheduled, and Celebrity Infinity will remain in port until 3 p.m. on Friday, with plans to sail directly to Athens (Piraeus) for disembarkation on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Before the incident, the cruise had only made one stop at Santorini on July 6. To compensate for the missing ports, Celebrity arranged free excursions in the Kusadasi area, including options beyond Ephesus, available through the Celebrity app on a first-come, first-served basis.

Due to the altered itinerary, passengers will receive a dual compensation package, consisting of a 50% refundable onboard credit and a 50% future cruise credit for regular bookings made within a year. Refunds for pre-booked shore tours for the canceled stops will be processed automatically, and any unused onboard funds will be reimbursed after the cruise.

Despite concerns from some guests regarding the ship’s seaworthiness, the company assures that Celebrity Infinity is safe for sailing, with a safe disembarkation in Athens planned. While some inconveniences persist, like loss of air conditioning and lighting in cabins, critical safety systems are now operational. The timeline for resolving the remaining issues is contingent upon completing the necessary repairs, and Celebrity is dedicated to restoring normal operations swiftly.
