Virgin Voyages Fleet Concludes Portsmouth Reunion Ahead of Exciting Sailing Season

Portsmouth International Port is set to become the first and only port globally to host the entire Virgin Voyages fleet this summer. The arrival of the Scarlet Lady on July 27th and the Brilliant Lady on August 22nd will mark a significant moment for the region, promising an economic boost.

Each ship’s visit is expected to generate substantial economic benefits, with estimates reaching up to GBP 1.5 million from port fees, local supply chains, and passenger spending. Overall, the port anticipates a profit of around GBP 10.3 million this year, which will be used to support essential city services and local projects.

Virgin Voyages initially partnered with Portsmouth in 2021, when the Scarlet Lady made its inaugural visit. Since then, over 72,000 passengers have embarked or disembarked in the port, contributing to notable growth in cruise activity.

The introduction of the Resilient Lady and its return visits have further solidified Portsmouth’s standing as a leading home port. Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, highlighted the partnership’s advantages, including increased trade and visibility for local businesses.

Port Director Mike Sellers remarked on the strong relationship developing with Virgin Voyages, noting this season is projected to be the busiest yet, with more than 90 ship calls expected, bringing new visitors to the city.

Virgin Voyages CEO Nirmal Saverimuttu acknowledged the importance of Portsmouth in the brand’s growth, commending the community’s maritime values and consistent support.

This season offers a variety of voyages ranging from six to thirteen nights, with destinations including Reykjavik and Morocco, as well as themed celebrations and entertainment options.
