Double the Fun: CCL-Carnival Brings Two Ships to Celebration Key!

CCL-Carnival Cruise Line achieved a significant milestone on July 22, as both the Carnival Glory and Carnival Conquest made their first dual call at Celebration Key, a newly opened private destination on Grand Bahama. This event saw approximately 7,000 guests disembarking to enjoy the retreat, just three days after the inaugural arrival of the Carnival Vista.

Celebration Key spans over 65 acres of land with 1.5 miles of white sandy beach. The destination is designed with five distinct zones that include the Caribbean’s largest freshwater lagoons, a private beach club, a renowned swim-up bar, and thirty dining and drinking venues. The centerpiece is a 10-story Suncastle featuring racing waterslides alongside various cabanas and daybeds.

Carnival’s president, Christine Duffy, stated that the arrival of two ships simultaneously enriches the guest experience, offering greater capacity and plenty of space for visitors to relax and enjoy everything the destination has to offer.

This ambitious project represents a $600 million investment and marks Carnival’s largest exclusive destination venture to date. An additional $100 million pier extension is in progress, expected to be completed by summer 2026, allowing up to four ships to dock simultaneously. The facility is anticipated to serve approximately two million passengers annually, with projections increasing to four million by 2028.

Looking to the future, the Carnival Pride and the Excel-class Mardi Gras will be among the first larger vessels to dock at Celebration Key, significantly increasing the resort’s guest capacity. Currently, Carnival operates 20 ships from ten U.S. homeports that include this destination in their itineraries.

From a maritime perspective, Celebration Key represents a modern cruise-led shore destination by integrating substantial investment, themed guest areas, and scalable capacity, while reinforcing Carnival’s strategy to provide customized beach-port experiences for its clientele.
