SH Minerva Returns to the Swan Hellenic Fleet for Antarctic and Asia-Pacific Seasons

The next-generation expedition vessel SH Minerva has rejoined the Swan Hellenic fleet, marking the cruise line’s full return to global service. After a period of inactivity due to sanctions and legal complications, the ship was reacquired by Swan Hellenic on July 25, 2025, using funds from its shareholders. This acquisition followed negotiations with liquidators, all conducted in compliance with prevailing sanctions.

After receiving routine maintenance and preparation to meet Swan Hellenic’s high standards, SH Minerva is set to embark on its 2025-2026 Antarctic season from Ushuaia in November 2025, joining its sister ships, SH Vega and SH Diana.

Post the Antarctic season, the ship will participate in Swan Hellenic’s inaugural Asia-Pacific program starting in March 2026. This program will feature cultural expedition cruises to new locations including the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Raja Ampat in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. These itineraries promise unique experiences that encompass ancient rituals, anthropology, WWII heritage sites, wildlife watching, and various watersport activities, all aligning with the company’s focus on immersive discovery.

Andrea Zito, CEO of Swan Hellenic, described SH Minerva’s return as a significant milestone, symbolizing the resurgence of the cruise line. She emphasized that the upcoming Asia-Pacific season would allow Swan Hellenic to navigate every ocean and continent, highlighting the company’s ambition and pride.

SH Minerva was constructed at the Helsinki Shipyard in late 2021 and was initially leased through STLC Europe Nine Leasing Ltd. The vessel had been laid up in Uruguay since April 2022, following sanctions on its parent company, GTLK Europe DAC, which went into liquidation in May 2023. Following extensive legal processes, Swan Hellenic successfully reacquired the vessel in July 2025.
