Holland America Teams Up with Caputo to Bring Authentic Neapolitan Pizza to Your Cruise Experience
Holland America Line has announced a partnership with Caputo, a historic flour mill based in Naples, Italy, to introduce fresh Neapolitan-style pizza aboard its cruise ships. The collaboration aims to deliver an authentic pizza experience by using Caputo’s premium flour, renowned in the culinary world.
Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage, and room division for Holland America Line, expressed pride in this partnership, emphasizing that every aspect, from ingredients to baking techniques, has been carefully selected to ensure authenticity and deliciousness for guests.
The initiative originated from Fleet Chef Marco Marrama’s enthusiasm for traditional Neapolitan cuisine, leading to a collaboration with John Mulvaney, director of culinary operations. This partnership is designed to elevate the onboard dining experience for guests.
To uphold high standards, Holland America’s culinary teams will receive training from Chef Domenico "Mimmo" Tolomeo, Caputo’s Corporate Chef. He will personally visit each ship to provide hands-on training. Additionally, a select group of chefs traveled to New York to undergo immersion training at Keste, Caputo’s family restaurant, under the guidance of master pizza chef Roberto Caporuscio.
Marisa Christenson, director of food and beverage operations and development for Holland America Line, stated that the enthusiasm from the chefs during their training was inspiring and would help enhance the pizza program available to guests.
