Lindblad Expeditions, in collaboration with National Geographic, has rebranded its youth engagement initiative to National Geographic Explorers-in-Training. Launched in 2017 as National Geographic Global Explorers, this program aims to provide young travelers with structured, educational field experiences during expedition cruises.

The updated Explorers-in-Training program maintains its original mission while enhancing the scientific and cultural immersion of its participants. Led by Certified Field Educators, the program is further enriched by onboard experts such as National Geographic photographers and naturalists.

Participants will receive a regional field notebook to document wildlife sightings, field experiments, and educational activities, which may include structured explorations, scientific games, and storytelling exercises. Upon completion, they will earn a commemorative patch and certificate.

The program will be available on select family-focused voyages, covering destinations like Alaska, Antarctica, Baja California, Iceland, and the Galápagos Islands. Depending on the region, activities might include snorkeling with sea lions, observing glaciers and whale behavior, or assisting naturalists in plankton collection and wildlife surveys.

This initiative highlights Lindblad’s commitment to creating meaningful intergenerational experiences aboard its expedition vessels. The new name more accurately reflects the program’s scope, setting it apart from typical youth entertainment offerings found on cruises.
