NCL’s Pride of America Halts Hawaiian Cruise Amid Medical Emergency
The MS Pride of America, a cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, was forced to turn back shortly after departing from Honolulu Harbor on the evening of August 3, 2025. It had only set sail with over 2,000 passengers on board when a medical emergency occurred, prompting the ship to reverse course just minutes after leaving the dock.
The vessel had cleared the pier at approximately 7:00 p.m. but made its turnaround shortly thereafter, arriving back at port around 8:00 p.m., as reported by officials at the Aloha Tower. Though details about the medical situation were not disclosed, it was handled smoothly, allowing the ship to continue with its planned 7-night itinerary around Hawaii.
Following the incident, Pride of America maintained its schedule with stops in Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. The Royal Caribbean Group, the parent operator, ensured that guests directly impacted by the medical emergency were informed before disembarkation.
Currently, Pride of America is operating under full health and safety measures, and there have been no reported changes to its itinerary or schedule due to the incident.
