As the full moon set over Jetty Park, the dawn marked a significant occasion with the arrival of the world’s largest cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, at Port Canaveral, Florida. This monumental event on August 9, 2025, celebrated the ship’s introduction to its new home port. Starting its voyages on August 16, the ship boasts a staggering weight of 250,800 gross tons and features 20 decks, seven pools, six waterslides, and over 40 dining and drinking venues. It can accommodate 5,610 passengers at double occupancy and more than 7,000 when fully booked, along with a crew of 2,350.

The addition of Star of the Seas to Port Canaveral signifies the growth of the cruise industry in the area, which now ranks as the second busiest cruise terminal globally, just behind PortMiami. Port Canaveral’s CEO, Capt. John Murray, noted that the increase in larger ships accommodating more passengers has driven significant growth in the area. He highlighted that the success of each new ship fosters further interest in the location as a cruising destination.
