Construction Begins on Disney’s Next Wish-Class Ship in Papenburg, Germany

At the shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has initiated the construction of its newest vessel during a traditional steel-cutting ceremony. This ceremony is a significant milestone in the shipbuilding process, marking the shift from design to physical construction.

This upcoming vessel will be the fourth in DCL’s WISH-class series, following the Disney Wish, the Disney Treasure, and the newly introduced Disney Destiny. While the ship’s name and specific features are still under wraps, it is expected to follow the successful formula of advanced engineering, Disney-inspired thematic design, and family-oriented amenities. Also anticipated are new entertainment options and immersive experiences, details of which will be unveiled later.

Meanwhile, the Disney Destiny is progressing toward its float-out phase, where the hull will transition from the construction hall into open water for the first time. This will kick off the final fitting-out phase, which includes installing interior accommodations and setting up technical systems. The Destiny is set to embark on its maiden voyage in November 2025.
