Environmental Protest Causes Delay for Celebrity Eclipse’s Docking at Port Amsterdam

On the morning of August 3, 2025, the cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse faced a temporary delay in docking at the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam due to a protest by around 30 activists from Extinction Rebellion.

The demonstrators, utilizing kayaks and inflatable boats, obstructed the terminal’s access while displaying banners that condemned the environmental impact of the cruise industry. The protest, which commenced at 6:00 a.m., lasted for two hours before authorities intervened and arrested at least five participants.
