Swan Hellenic Launches Exciting New Cultural Expeditions in Asia and the Pacific
Swan Hellenic has announced its inaugural series of cultural expeditions in the Asia-Pacific region, following the return of the SH Minerva, which was recently reacquired after being laid up in Uruguay for three years. The vessel, purpose-built in 2021, will begin its Asia-Pacific itineraries after a season in Antarctica.
From April to May 2026, the SH Minerva will offer several cruises, with more scheduled for September 2026, altogether providing seven unique cultural voyages. According to the company’s CEO, Andrea Zito, this development signifies a new chapter for Swan Hellenic, granting guests access to a region rich in cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty. Zito noted that this first Asia-Pacific season allows the company to present a truly global selection of voyages that engage visitors in meaningful exploration.
The inaugural journey starts on April 5, 2026, departing from Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands. Following this, the ship will host five cultural expedition cruises to destinations such as Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. In keeping with Swan Hellenic’s tradition, the itineraries do not repeat ports, allowing for longer combined voyages of up to 55 days, concluding in Otaru, Japan, on May 30, 2026.
The first three cruises will be offered through an exclusive "Cruise Plus" formula, which includes specially arranged hotel accommodations, charter flights, and transfers to the departure location. The last two cruises, starting from Manila and Hiroshima, will be available as cruise-only packages since those ports are regularly serviced by scheduled flights. Additionally, two more cruises in September 2026 will focus exclusively on Japan, launching from Otaru and Hiroshima.
